Simplefolk and the folk tradition

Simplefolk is the traditional folk partnership of Mandy Breeze and Doug Kelly. The repertoire brings old ballads, songs and tunes into present-day performance, alongside songs by known writers.

Folk songs travel through voices, memory, written collections and recordings. Words and melodies may change along the way. We are developing a song collection that follows those journeys: a song’s origins, its surviving versions, the recording you hear here, and what it means to the musicians performing it.

Studio and live recordings each have their own place in that story. Little Cloud is a featured performer on Leongatha Lockdown (Live).
